Location

Lviv is a city found in western Ukraine, on the edge of Roztochia Upland. The city measures 182 square kilometers and is home to more than 70,000 people.

The city has become and active emblem when it comes to Ukraine’s culture especially before and after world war. The influence of the past is still seen and felt via its structures and remnants found in the city’s core: its streets.

Climate

According to the Koppen climate classification, the weather in Lviv is humid continental. The best time to hop into this city is during the months of June, July and August as these have nice average temperature.

Be mindful that most rainfall happens in July, which is why tourists can either bring their rain coats, umbrellas or avoid this month altogether if the pouring rain doesn’t belong on their good side. The warmest month is August while cold in Lviv can be experienced in January.

Transportation

Lviv Danylo Halytskyi International Airport is 6km away from the center of Lviv. The airport hosts European flights including destinations to Vienna, Warsaw, Munich, Istanbul etc.

Trains are also available for tourists who will come from Poland through the city of Krakow. Buses and cars are also other modes of transportation that travelers can use when going in and out of the city.

Ploshcha Rynok

Also known as the Market Square, this famous corner in the city houses 44 buildings including a uniform facade and a town clock.

It’s like going back to the good old medieval age as you walk through the cobblestones and admire the structures of this one of a kind tourist attraction.

High Castle Hill

High Castle Hill is considered as Lviv’s emblem. The overlooking castle is just a 25 minute walk from the market Square and has been one of the most visited attractions in the city.

As a sign of beauty and might, the castle has also served to protect locals from siege during earlier days.

Dominican Cathedral

The Gothic designed cathedral is a replacement for the wooden church that was founded in 1408. The beauty and size of the cathedral was well accepted that it was even considered as the central monastery in Eastern Europe during the 1600s.

The baroque monastery turned Gothic Greek Orthodox church is one of the most interesting spots to visit in Lviv due to its beautiful architecture.
